We have a set of about 27 nodes and we want to find out which data (participant interviews) are coded to more than one node. We want to know which of our nodes are similar to other nodes - either overlap or complement.

For example: if something is coded as a belief is it also coded as a priority and a role? or something else as well?

Is the best way to do this by pulling up each node and then using coding stripes to see which nodes are similarly coded?

We have ideas/assumptions based on our coding but would like to know if there is an easier way and one that is more methodological?

Have you considered running a case/node matrix query? This would present you with a table of each case down, and which nodes have been coded to each case. If you want to do the matrix for only a particular set of cases, you can pick and choose by choosing which items you are interested in.
