  1. Each time I try to copy the project to a mac version, I get a error message, which I have continuously reported, but then it fails. I'm travelling, and my personal version is a Mac, while my office version is a PC. Is there any way to work between the two platforms?
  2. Twitter data collection

Hello, I'm working on a project in which I analyze certain tweets from accounts. I was using NCapture for NVivo to download tweets from a particular account into a dataset and import it into NVivo. But it stopped working. Tweets I collected from a user's homepage only went back so far. I used Advanced Search to collect data further back in the timeline, but NCapture won't collect information from the Advanced Search. Am I doing something wrong? I was told it would still work for advanced search. Thank you for your advice and help!
  3. Standard View Settings

The view setting currently reverts back to the pre-set standard every time you open a new node or source (or reopen the entire project at the start of the day), which means no highlights or codes are displayed. Could you please add a feature that allows the user to customise this setting. Particularly, it would be helpful to allow 'Highlight' -> 'Coding for All Nodes' to be permanently selected for all sources / nodes. The same goes for 'Coding Stripes' -> 'Nodes Recently Coding'. It is rather frustrating that I have to select both options every time I enter a new node / source. In bigger projects this slows my work down quite considerably. I do not know whether I should post this separately but I have a connected suggestion: Please add a feature that shows all the Coding Stripes for the text currently shown on screen. It is great that you are already providing so many different options (e.g. show 'Nodes Most Coding' or 'Nodes Recently Coding') but in bigger projects these functions are not sufficient to help me determine which codes/nodes have already been applied to the text (unless I have recently coded the section or it happens to be a frequently used code/node). In other words, as I scroll down in a long document it would be great if the coding stripes on the right continued to change to what is actually relevant to the text on screen (i.e. selected for the text shown). I know there is a maximum of how many stripes can be shown at once but even if it could only display 7 current stripes that would already help a lot. Thanks and all the best, Tobias
  4. Product roadmap

Is there a publicly available product roadmap for NVivo for Mac that shows when features currently available in the Windows version of NVivo will be implemented for the Mac version? It still seems like there are a lot of basic features that are still unavailable and I'd like to know when each will be implemented if I'm going to continue to purchase licenses. Thanks!
  5. Ribbon Area Too Large - Customizable?

Hello, In working with NVivo for Mac, I have found that the displaying the ribbon is much easier to work with than using the textual menus. For one thing, I can, in an instance, see what tools are available. This is great! However, I find that that the ribbon area takes up much more screen space than visually necessary. This means that the other display areas have less real estate to work with. I realize I can hide the ribbon area, but as I point out above, the ribbon area is great to have continually being displayed. Is there a way to reduce the ribbon space, like the other windows? If not, can this feature be added? Just to provide a clearer explanation of what I mean, I have attached a screenshot with a red arrow showing the ribbon area. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers! Darren
  6. NVivo quit unexpectedly

Dear all, When trying to open a file that was covered from pc to mac, my Nvivo systematically crashes. Can you please advise how to fix this problem? I attached the crash report that is generated. Kind regards Frederik Crash report Nvivo.docx
  7. Hi, I wonder if you can help: Is it correct NVivo for the Mac cannot import reference lists from products like Endnote yet, like the windows version? If so, it seems like a fundamental part of pre-research / subject review process is missing. In the meantime, can you comment on the workaround approach I have taken: Basically: (1) I export my bibtex reference list (1000+) to csv via JabRef. (2) Clean up the resulting file (3) Import as a Source Classification Sheet (3a) This just brings in the (4) Import the PDF (collected via a mac 'smart folder') to NVivo. (5) Manually associate each PDF item with on the source classification list... Is there any point in this approach? Will it save typing in the bibliographic data again? Also, should the reference list import for mac be in progress - can I suggest supporting a range of bibliographic tools by using some file format many of the tools can export? (bibtex, mendeley, sente, papers, Refme etc.) Thanks in advance. Kind regards Ian
  8. You are currently providing the following nodes feature to uncode data: Analyze -> Uncode Selection At -> Existing Nodes / Recent Nodes It would be fantastic if you could add an option to uncode: 'Currently Coded Nodes' I do not think this feature would be hard for you to add, as you are already providing the function - although in a way that is hard to reach for the user, as explained below. If I select the 'Existing Nodes' option and click on the 'With Coding' tab, Nivivo provides a list of all available codes and highlights those (in a white rather than a grey background color) that are already been used for this selection. However, I use over 200 nodes in my research and it is rather time-consuming to scroll through the entire list every time I want to check which nodes have already been used for a specific selection of words. Thus, it would be fantastic if you could either add a new tab within the 'Existing Nodes' option (that lists only those nodes that are currently used to code the selection) or add an additional list, similar to the 'Recent Nodes'. Thanks and best, Tobias
  9. Dear Developer Team, I have just updated to the new Nvivo 10.2 and was shocked to find that you have changed the way you display the standard Reference View Setting inside of Nodes. The new way of displaying takes up way too much space on screen! Yes, it highlights the source and the number/percentage of appearances, but I believe the way this was done before was much more efficient. I have now got to scroll twice as much and it is much less convenient to compare sources. What you have done may work well for those who use the same node many times in the same source but for bigger projects this is just a nightmare. Can you please let the user choose their preferred view setting (i.e. add an option to display the Reference View of Nodes in this new style or the old style)? In the meantime can you please advise me where I can download the former version of Nvivo. I replaced mine with the update, so I cannot go back now. Considering how much time I spend using Nvivo, I would prefer to use the former version until this issue has been solved. Thanks and best, Tobias
  10. Hi there, Can't convert my .nvpx to an nvp. Have tried on two separate PCs with the converter installed. All I get are useless error logs. Can someone please help me figure out what is happening? Project Conversion Error Log.txt
  11. Mac Deployment Guide?

Are there any plans to create a Mac enterprise deployment guide? I'd like to build an already-serialized package via Casper Composer to distribute to faculty on campus, but the naive approach (do an install, enter serial number, perform capture) produces a package that still demands to have a serial number. Thanks!
  12. Hello, I have installed NCapture on my chrome browser on my new mac. I noticed when I capture data from Twitter as a dataset using NCapture, NVivo10 for Mac does not recognize the .nvcx file type and I cannot import the captured dataset. Could you please fix this issue or explain to me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it. Many thanks Melissa
  13. I mostly work on a mac, except for Nvivo. If I install Ncapture for Google Chrome on Mac- could I save the file to dropbox and then open in Nvivo on my PC? Anyone done this?
