  1. Standard View Settings

The view setting currently reverts back to the pre-set standard every time you open a new node or source (or reopen the entire project at the start of the day), which means no highlights or codes are displayed. Could you please add a feature that allows the user to customise this setting. Particularly, it would be helpful to allow 'Highlight' -> 'Coding for All Nodes' to be permanently selected for all sources / nodes. The same goes for 'Coding Stripes' -> 'Nodes Recently Coding'. It is rather frustrating that I have to select both options every time I enter a new node / source. In bigger projects this slows my work down quite considerably. I do not know whether I should post this separately but I have a connected suggestion: Please add a feature that shows all the Coding Stripes for the text currently shown on screen. It is great that you are already providing so many different options (e.g. show 'Nodes Most Coding' or 'Nodes Recently Coding') but in bigger projects these functions are not sufficient to help me determine which codes/nodes have already been applied to the text (unless I have recently coded the section or it happens to be a frequently used code/node). In other words, as I scroll down in a long document it would be great if the coding stripes on the right continued to change to what is actually relevant to the text on screen (i.e. selected for the text shown). I know there is a maximum of how many stripes can be shown at once but even if it could only display 7 current stripes that would already help a lot. Thanks and all the best, Tobias
  2. You are currently providing the following nodes feature to uncode data: Analyze -> Uncode Selection At -> Existing Nodes / Recent Nodes It would be fantastic if you could add an option to uncode: 'Currently Coded Nodes' I do not think this feature would be hard for you to add, as you are already providing the function - although in a way that is hard to reach for the user, as explained below. If I select the 'Existing Nodes' option and click on the 'With Coding' tab, Nivivo provides a list of all available codes and highlights those (in a white rather than a grey background color) that are already been used for this selection. However, I use over 200 nodes in my research and it is rather time-consuming to scroll through the entire list every time I want to check which nodes have already been used for a specific selection of words. Thus, it would be fantastic if you could either add a new tab within the 'Existing Nodes' option (that lists only those nodes that are currently used to code the selection) or add an additional list, similar to the 'Recent Nodes'. Thanks and best, Tobias
  3. Hi everyone, My name is Shane Walsh-Smith, and I work for the Australian Federal Public Service Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. The team I'm a part of currently codes the content of enterprise agreements made in Australia, recording the incidence of some 200 conditions. This incidence is presently recorded as a binary yes/no, and we are exploring options to increase the depth of the data we record - particularly, the capture of text strings that reflect the incidence of an individual condition. I understand someone else in my team is already in conference with the QSR Sales folks (or will be shortly), ensuring that NVivo meets our needs on a technical level, but we feel the business case we need to send up the chain in our department would be stronger if we could liaise with some organisations that already use NVivo for their corporate needs. If you are happy to share your experiences with the software, and with QSR, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us via email at ebtrends@deewr.gov.au or post below. Our primary concerns at this stage are risk mitigation, so we are keen to hear anything you have to say about the following: The quality, speed, and accuracy of support (technical and sales) for NVivo. The regularity of enhancements to the software, and whether or not users incur further costs obtaining said enhancements. The reliability of the software (in terms of bugs/crashes), and its capacity to perform in a corporate network environment. The capacity of NVivo to deal with PDF files, particularly those which are not of high quality. But any user stories or recommendations would be welcome. As I said, we will be contacting QSR directly, if we haven't already, but we are also keen to hear from users of the software. Thank you for your time. Shane Walsh-Smith
  4. Hi, Is it possible to bend connectors between shapes in an NVivo model, to make it easier to interpret/explain? Thanks Mathew Australia
