  1. Hi I've been through all the help files on reports and extracts and queries and tried so many things I just want to know how to return all of the coding at all nodes grouped by cases which have a particular value for one attribute. to clarify with an example, I have several childcare centres in this sample. Their individual names are the different values of the 'centre' attribute. So I want to see all of the coding from the many interview with the staff from each centre organised by centre (to understand data for each centre as a whole). thanks
  2. Dear all I'm under a deadline, so I hope you could help me out quickly with this question. I'm a newby at Nvivo10, I've looked already into the guidelines but it's very confusing with all the posibilities and boxes you have to check. I've coded all my sources (texts) into nodes and childnodes. The result is a 'nodetree' with main nodes and childnodes etc. Now I want to export the hierarchy of two nodes, with the coded text under it, organised by the hierarchy. To visualise here's what I would like to have: "MAIN NODE" - subnode - subnode * subnode [coded text coded text coded text....] - subnode * subnode [coded text coded text coded text....] - subnode - subnode * subnode [coded text coded text coded text....] - subnode * subnode [coded text coded text coded text....] I don't know if it's possible (looking through the guidelines, I think it is, but I can't seem to find out how...), if yes: it would save me a lot of time! Thank you for any helpful input! Kind regards, Ellen.
  3. I want to create a report pretty similar to the 'Coding Summary By Node Report' (inbuilt in Nvivo10) but I want to be able to see the 'child node' coding. I have a theme (parent node) and about 5-6 child nodes under it. I want it all in one report (i.e. I don't want a separate report for each child node) - but I do want to be able to see at a glance which child node I coded the different bits of text at. How to do this as a customised report? Thanks!
  4. I have run a matrix query to investigate where specific nodes intersect. Is it possible to create something similar to a Coding Summary by Node Report that also list the additional nodes that intersect with a specific node? I would like the text of the initial node in the report along with a list of the additional nodes that are coded at the same text.
  5. I have been using NVivo to manage panel data, coding certain passages in interview transcripts for years 1, 2 and 3 of the study. I need to generate a "profile" of a source document in such a way that I can tell which additional nodes were coded in each document's content for year 1, year 2, and year 3. I do not have a sense of how to do this in NVivo 9. I can generate a coding profile by using the Chart feature, and looking at the additional tab behind the generated graph, but I do not then have the ability to filter or sort by the year (or by other nodes). To complicate this, I need to generate multi-dimensional coding profiles for about 600 source documents. So a point-and-click strategy will not be sufficient. If this were a different program, I could write a code loop to pull the info and spit it out... but I do not think there is a "back side" of NVivo where I could write such an export loop. Help?! 6. I'm using NVivo 10 and am trying to find a way to create a document that consists solely of content that hasn't been coded. I've looked through the report options and I can't figure out how to do it. Any suggestions?
  7. I am wondering if it is possible to generate a report that exports the copied portions of the pictures that I have coded. Currently, when I run the coding summary report, I get all of the normal data with the exception of the picture that I coded. Obviously I can live without being able to print this off, but it would be much more convenient. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Thanks for your help.
  8. Hi , I would like to generate an extract to assist with obtaining quantitative results. I want to use the file directly with the statistical program Stata. I need an excel file that shows only one line per table row in each of my video audio sources. For example, I have 5 sources. Each source has 500 lines with multiple types of codes applied to each row. I want to create an extract that generates 2500 lines to correspond to each of the 5 sources 500 lines and additional columns to show me the codes I have applied on each of these rows. I have tried a source extract in multiple configurations, but it does not correspond to the source rows. Instead, it generates a new line for each applied code, resulting in a file that has 5,000 rows. Can you help me to correctly create an extract with these requirements? Is it possible? Joy
  9. Hi everyone, I'm working on my master thesis in communication management. I made a content analysis of 948 Facebook posts, as pictures (each post in an own .pdf file), from 12 different Facebook users. Now here is my problem: I try to create a report "Coding summary by source report" to output all posts with the assigned codes/nodes as .html. After initiating the creation of the report, my PC starts to process until Nvivo10.exe & sqlservr.exe use nearly 2GB of memory. In this moment the creation of the report crashes (see the attached pictures). NVivo tells me to "reduce the complexity of the report". I already tried to output only one single source with its assigned codes but it gave me the same error. Is this a problem of memory? I already reconfigured the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 x64 to give access to more than 2GB Ram, but it didn't change anything. My system: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Processor 8GB DDR3-RAM XFXForce 790i Ultra Motherboard Nvidia Geforce GTX 570 2TB Hard Disk Drives I'm running NVivo 10 x64 (local, not connected to a server) and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 x64. Could you please help me? I really appreciate your help. Kind regards, Huppys
